What is Attainment 8 and how is it calculated?
Here we give you an overview of what the Attainment 8 Performance measure is, and how it is calculated from a subject level up to a whole school
Attainment 8 is a whole school performance measure that is calculated based on the grades achieved by students across 8 key subjects, split in to 3 elements (or buckets).
The grade for each subject is converted to an A8 value. The best A8 values in each of the elements is then selected and added together with some additional rules applied:
- Best English (x2 if Literature & Language sat)
- Best Maths x2
- Best 3 EBacc from any of:
- Science | Computer Science
- Geography | History
- Modern Foreign Languages
- Best 3 Open Subjects
Using our trackers to analyse A8:
Each of our KS4 subject trackers convert your grades to an A8 value. For Whole School Subscribers the KS4 Grade Analysis applies all the combination rules and calculates the Attainment 8 score for each student and for the school overall.
