# What do the colours in my tracker mean?

## Once you set your students' MTGs, you'll see that their grades become colour-coded in your trackers.

Based on your students' **Minimum Target Grades** (*[Setting targets for students](https://support.pupilprogress.com/helpcentre/setting-targets-for-students?hsLang=en)*), their grades for each assessment they sit will be colour-coded following this key:

![Screenshot 2020-12-17 at 16.50.18](https://support.pupilprogress.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Screenshot%202020-12-17%20at%2016.50.18.png?width=137&name=Screenshot%202020-12-17%20at%2016.50.18.png)

The colours give you a quick and intuitive understanding of how your class is performing overall, as well as at the individual level. At first glance, you can see that a student might have exceeded their minimum target grade for a unit, while they underperformed in the next unit, such as *Huckleberry Finn* (see below).

![Screenshot 2020-12-18 at 16.43.44](https://support.pupilprogress.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Screenshot%202020-12-18%20at%2016.43.44.png?width=688&name=Screenshot%202020-12-18%20at%2016.43.44.png)

This helps you plan future lessons and target groups of students that are having more difficulties.

Additionally, the darkness of the cells with the raw marks in is indicative of how well your students have performed. Specifically, the darker the cell is the higher the marks are.

From this tracker view, we can see at first glance that the students with the lighter cells have scored the lowest for the Mock. This will help you know which students could use some support in order to improve their grades.
