OCR - CNAT / CTEC 2022/23 changes at KS4 and KS5

OCR has approved a permitted reduction in the number of assessments for Cambridge Nationals and Cambridge Technicals. Assessed grades will be provided for the units where assessment has not been taken.

How do our trackers reflect these changes?

The proportional assessed grade method looks at the grades that a candidate has achieved and calculates an average grade that is then used for the missing unit. We have added a proportional grade column in the summary section to report the calculation for you.

In order to have accurate predictions for your students' final grades, ensure that your tracker is set up correctly.

  • Click the three dots to the right of the green live tracking button. Select Edit.
  • Untick any optional units not being assessed
  • Tick box > 2022: Include proportional points
  • Save changes (at the bottom of the page)

By selecting this option the tracker now contains a proportional unit to compensate for the missing internal assessed unit. The unit grade is calculated using OCR's numerical grade scale. An X: Unit column in the summary area will display the grade and reflect the proportional points based on the midpoint of whichever grade is achieved.

What about if I'm using a L3 Cambridge Technical tracker instead?

It's a slightly different process if you need to calculate the reduction of moderated unit/s for the Cambridge Technicals, where we would manually assign the grade instead. In this case, please reach out to us via email or the chat feature, and we would be able to get your tracker showing accurate data within a short period.
