WJEC Changes

WJEC have published the changes to the units that are being use in awarding grades for 2022. See the changes here - WJEC adaptations to AS and A level qualifications in summer 2022.

How do our trackers reflect these changes?

We haven't changed the structure of our trackers, because everything you need to have accurate grades is already in there.

In order to have accurate predictions for your students' final grades:

  • leave the unit that you're not assessing completely blank. Do not enter any data, and collapse the unit with the "-" button to have a tidier look in your Live Tracker.

  • when looking in the Summary area, refer to the Average Unit Grade section.

"Current Grade" will no longer be reflective of your students' expectations (because this takes into consideration all units), so you should refer to the Scaled Average Unit Marks and Average Unit Grades. The Scaled Average Unit Marks column takes the marks achieved by students in the units that have marks and scales them up to the marks for the overall course. The overall course grade boundaries are then applied to calculate an Average Unit Grade.

What if I have Customised Assessment data in my AS-Units?

You can either hide the Customised Assessment or make it not count towards the unit and course Grades.

  1. Go to the Classes & Tracking screen

  2. Click on the Customised Assessments tab

  3. Use the filters to see your subject and course

  4. Click the 3-dot button to the right of the Customised Assessment you are editing

  5. Deselect the Counting towards the Unit and Summary Grades box OR deselect the classes that you want it to be visible for.

Edit delete CA

If you do this for all the AS-Level units, then the Scaled Average Unit Marks will only use the data from the A-Level units.

What if I have Past Paper data in my AS-Units?

We would first advise you to take a snapshot of you trackers. This will save a copy of your current data as it is, incase you ever need to refer back to it.

A Leader of your subject can do this by clicking on the 3-dot button at the top of your tracker list, then selecting Create Year Group Snapshot.

Then you can delete the data for the past papers. If you have lots of data you can use Bulk Edit to delete it.

  1. Click the Show tools toggle

  2. Click Bulk Edit

  3. Select a blank cell and press Ctrl+C to copy

  4. Click and drag to highlight the AS-Level units

  5. Press Ctrl+V to paste the blank cells over your data

  6. Press Save changes

Clearing data

If you do this for all the AS-Level units, then the Scaled Average Unit Marks will only use the data from the A-Level units.
