The exam board OCR has published a document outlining how assessments for Cambridge Nationals will be different for classes graduating in 2021. You can find the document here:

CNAT with Optional units

If you're delivering a course with optional units, your assessments can now be reduced by one optional moderated unit.

CNAT without Optional units

If you're delivering a course without optional units, your assessments can now be reduced by one moderated mandatory unit.

So by the end of the current academic year (2020-2021), you'll have to have assessed at least 3 units. The only instance in which you'll need to assess all 4 units is if by the end of the past academic year your students had already completed 3 units. This is because your students need to have at least one assessment completed during the current academic year.

How do our trackers reflect these changes?

We haven't changed the structure of our trackers, because everything you need to have accurate grades is already in there. In order to have accurate predictions for your students' final grades, ensure that you're doing the following:

  • leave the unit that you're not assessing completely blank. Do not enter any data, and potentially collapse the unit with the "-" button to have a tidier look in your Live Tracker.

  • when looking in the Summary area, refer to the Average Unit section.
"Current Grade" will no longer be reflective of your students' expectations (because this takes into consideration all units), so you should refer to the "Scaled Average Unit". This column takes the grades achieved by students in the units that have marks and scales them up to the marks for the overall course.
