Edexcel's recent news release (17th June 2022) stated the total raw marks for each paper students will sit from 2023 are changing. Our tracker now reflects these changes.

This is a change from 90 raw marks in paper 1 and 70 marks in paper 2. In both cases the scaled marks for each of the units is unchanged; this means the units still have the same weighting to the overall course.

Scaling Factors

It is rare but some GCSE courses including this PE course use scaling factors to calculate a grade. The course specifications have this clearly stated at the end of the assessment section in the specifications.

*Error on issue 4 of the specification. Page 5 of the Qualification at a glance. Raw marks are incorrect for component 2. Edexcel are aware. Awaiting new issue.

What does this mean for published past papers not out 80 or 60 respectively?

There will be full past papers of different maximum marks that you may use or have used to assess. For example 2019 paper 2 out of 70. This is absolutely fine and you can be confident as the tracker will automatically scale to the correct scaled marks. If you would prefer to only assess a 80 or 60 mark adapted paper add this as an Customised Assessment. You can set this up at QLA, linked to course topics so you can see a deeper understanding of where you students are.If you have any question do reach out to us via the live chat, You can do this using the little blue button on the bottom right corner of your screen.
